Black Woman Makes History, Opens Certified Training Center in Georgia For CPR, Fire Safety and More

Bobbie Lee, an African American mom and entrepreneur from Augusta, Georgia, founded AGC (All God's Children), a training center that offers certifications in CPR, fire safety, defensive driving, and childcare training. Her journey from initially running a small childcare center to running a state-approved training business highlights her commitment to education and community safety.

In 1997, Lee left the military, became a new mom, and found a way to balance family life without relying on childcare.

"I didn't want to put her in an early childhood, another daycare. I wanted to have her with me." Lee told WFXG. "And I said, what can I do that doesn't require me to put her in child care? Corporate America was not taking children, so I started a family childcare home."

Her training center, however, is what is grabbing people's attention. In fact, one of her most popular programs is the defensive driving course, which benefits both first-time drivers and those looking to refresh their road safety knowledge.

Lee notes that 80% of her students return to refresh their understanding of road safety. With the city of Augusta's streets changing after recent hurricanes, it’s crucial for drivers to stay updated on road rules. She emphasizes that familiar practices can become habits that need reevaluation for safety.

Looking ahead, Lee plans to expand AGC to continue offering valuable training and safety education to the Augusta community.
