Retailer JC Penney has high aspirations to become a leading retailer, and they have found just the right person to lead them in that direction. That person is Marvin Ellison who will soon begin his role as the new President and CEO of JC Penney. Ellison is also the first ever black president and CEO to be elected at JC Penney.

Ellison comes to JC Penney with extensive experience in retail and a keen knowledge of store operations and supply chain management. His experience in managing large American retail organizations includes 15 years at Target and 12 years at Home Depot where he is currently the executive vice president of Home Depot stores.

JC Penney welcomes Ellison and looks forward to his direction over the next several years. Company officials are optimistic that Ellison will put them back on track after suffering a rocky road for several years that almost ended in bankruptcy.

As Board of Directors Chairman, Thomas J. Engibous commented, “The Board has completed its search for the right CEO to lead the next stage of JCPenney’s growth.” “We are delighted to have found that person in Marvin Ellison."
