Jasmin Smith and Andre Obaseki, two African American serial entrepreneurs, have launched Blacquisition, a first-of-its-kind online marketplace designed to help the Black community build generational wealth through business ownership and asset growth. The platform officially launched in February 2026.
Blacquisition is both a website and a mobile app, providing a centralized space where users can buy and sell businesses/land, acquire or merge companies, access funding resources, estate planning support, training and consulting, and participate in Blacquisition conferences and community meetups. The platform specifically targets the Black community, addressing long-standing gaps in access to ownership pathways and business transition resources.
The idea was born after recognizing the lack of a trusted, centralized ecosystem for Black entrepreneurs seeking to preserve ownership, grow assets, and pass down businesses across generations.
"When I was coming to the end of one of my previous businesses, I knew it was time to sell, and I had a strong desire to keep it Black-owned, but I didn't know where to go to find the buyers," says Jasmin, who is based in Anchorage, Alaska.
Andre, who is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, comments: "We do a lot of work in the acquisition space, and we consistently find that understanding how to navigate a sale or properly value a business is something many owners simply haven't been taught."
Anthony Haney, an early supporter from Harlem, New York, emphasized the broader impact: "There's a real desire for people to become business owners, but not everyone wants-or is able-to build from scratch. Blacquisition will open the door to more turnkey ownership opportunities."
Blacquisition aims to become the go-to marketplace for Black entrepreneurs seeking sustainable ownership, wealth preservation, and long-term economic empowerment.
