Black Attorney Hires His 24-Year-Old Niece to Work for His Law Firm on the Spot at Her Graduation

Attorney Ryan Williams, the CEO and Founding Partner of RCW Law Firm, is going viral for hiring his niece, Destiney, on the spot during her college graduation ceremony. She recently graduated from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and is now going to work for her uncle's Atlanta-based firm as a paralegal.

Attorney Ryan is an accomplished lawyer, proud public servant, and advocate for social justice. He concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury, DUI defense, general business, and corporate matters. His firm has litigated civil and criminal cases on the municipal court, state court, and superior court levels. Some of his cases have even been featured on Good Morning America, ABC News, and CNN.

On the day of Destiney's graduation, Attorney Ryan made a post on his Facebook page with the following message:

"Welcome to the family business! Today my niece and the young lady that I have considered a daughter since birth graduated from college. I made her a promise at the beginning of this journey that I would walk with her every step of the way. Beyond the financial support I gave her she always knew I was a phone call away. That phone call went both ways throughout her journey, she called for advice and I would call and check in and she didn’t make any big decisions without consulting me. Over the years, she has interned at my law firm and worked for me on and off. Today on her graduation day from college she has her official offer letter and a salary position with RCW LAW. #generationalwealth started with me but it will go deep."

Naturally, the post went viral and the entire African American community is celebrating her success. Ironically, on her LinkedIn page, she had previously posted a message that said "I plan to work hard to earn a spot in business at a great company." With her recent accomplishment, she literally spoke those words into existence and has certainly come a long way after previously working as a cashier at Walmart, Dollar General, and Ross Dress For Less.

Destiney, who is 24 years old, comments, "I'm honored and very grateful for the opportunity that my uncle has given me, and I look forward to helping his firm to help reform the justice system. I'm also excited about helping to support his firm's mission of creating positive relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve."
