Joseph Wyatt, from Greensboro, North Carolina, and his father, William, are celebrating their new distribution deal with Target to have their products sold in 457 stores nationwide. The two have created something truly significant for African Americans with their business, Ben’s Boyz Premium Food. What began as a dream between father and son has now grown into a brand that represents hard work, family, and premium Southern comfort food. Their journey stands out as an inspiring success story for the community.
In 2020, Joseph and William launched a food truck offering their unique blend of Southern dishes in a shopping center parking lot. Joseph’s determination led his father to fully support the venture, and soon their food truck gained a dedicated following. The growing popularity of their dishes convinced them they had something special, leading to the opening of their restaurant in Greensboro, where they have built a loyal customer base.According to Fox 8, the journey wasn’t without challenges, as William faced a personal battle with cancer last year. After spending 16 days in the hospital, he was determined to stay connected to the business, even sneaking out with Joseph to record a promotional video for their growing brand. Despite the setbacks, their bond remained strong, and William’s resilience became a symbol of their determination to succeed.
What started as a simple food truck has now expanded to grocery stores. Their products, which carry the names and faces of family members, including “Aunt Dot’s Salmon Patties” named after Joseph’s mother, are now sold in Target stores up and down the East Coast. This achievement marks a significant milestone in their journey, one that highlights the power of family, perseverance, and entrepreneurship.
The name Ben’s Boys holds special meaning, as it honors William’s father, further rooting the business in family heritage. William Wyatt reflects on how far they’ve come, saying, “I still wonder if this is real. It’s been an incredible journey, and to see our products in stores feels like a dream come true.”
Today, Ben’s Boys Premium Food is available in more than 400 Target stores, a testament to the Wyatt family’s dedication and the realization of a dream shared between father and son.
