Meet Dana White, founder and CEO of Paralee Boyd, an innovative walk-in-only hair salon franchise that provides a unique solution to getting women in and out in a timely manner. She owns two salons in the Detroit area but has now launched a national rollout via franchising. This makes her the first Black woman in history to ever do so.More than just another salon
Dana has truly revolutionized the way hair salons are run. According to her interview with Forbes, her company uses tech principles brought in from the automotive industry like lean manufacturing to make sure they get women in and out within a certain time while simultaneously keeping the prices of their services low.
One of the biggest complaints that women have about getting their hair done is having to spend all day in the salon. For this reason, she says that her company runs a data-driven process that minimizes time wasted. "Why do something in four steps when you can do it in one or two?" she says.
She comments, "I opened Paralee Boyd to solve for a problem that women with thick and curly hair were facing everywhere. I wanted to create a space that provided quality hair care, was timely, and committed to customer service. Like several of us, I had grown tired of spending my Saturdays in hair salons."
