Patricia Thompson Terry is an Atlanta-based entrepreneur and visionary who is creating prosperity for both women and men in the billion dollar hair & beauty industry. She is the founder of Touched By An Angel Beauty School and Salons, which aims to transform students’ dreams into a professional reality. She has two locations in Jonesboro and College Park, Georgia.
Pivoting online
Because of the current Coronavirus lockdown situation, however, her school's physical location has been closed, but is now offering a dual online training program where all students can start their introductory classes and finish the 2nd half of the program "in-house".
Obviously, hands-on training can not be offered over the web, but students can complete their much-needed online courses about hair theory. In addition, the school has even become certified to teach VA students.
Patricia has always been about helping others, and via her beauty school she is able to nurture and educate up-and-coming successful stylists through weaving boot camps, barbering, advanced career training, professional internship programs, employment, and scholarships.
She has even successfully trained her own daughter, LaPorsha, to also become a Master Cosmetologist, instructor and entrepreneur.
Giving back to those in need
Patricia, who was a cast member on the Cutting in the ATL hit reality series which aired on WETV from 2015 to 2016, has even founded a non-profit organization called TBA Helping Hands “A Pathway to Success”. Through the organization, the school on grand opening day awarded full scholarships to 30 students for immediate attendance. Men and women are afforded an opportunity to attend, learn and receive their cosmetology license from an accredited beauty school. The scholarships cover their tuition through graduation.
TBA Helping Hands Foundation has been in the spirit of giving back since it’s founding over a year ago. To celebrate International Women’s Day, the foundation issued 15 scholarships complemented by bus passes and free daycare for mothers who were displaced and victims of domestic violence.
“Nothing is more important to me than giving back. Yes, my schools are the most affordable in comparison. But, I know there are some people who can’t afford it. I want to give them a chance,” says Patricia.
