Meet the 9-Year Old Entrepreneur Who Designs Fashion Dresses For Barbie Dolls

Nevaeh Woods, 9-year old aspiring fashion designer

Nevaeh Woods, a 9-year old aspiring fashion designer from Michigan, recently caught the world's attention on social media when her unique doll clothing designs made of household items went viral. She has even caught the attention of Mattel, the big name toy company that manufactures Barbie.
"When I grow up, I want to be a fashion designer," Nevaeh told Click on Detroit.

Now, it seems like the little girl doesn't have to wait until she grows up to achieve her dream. She makes clothes for her Barbie dolls out of anything she could get her hands on, such as ribbons, old socks, or other everyday household items.

Her mother, Sha'kvia Woods, has always been impressed with her daughter's work and encourages her to live her dreams. When she started posting her designs online, she was overwhelmed by the response it got from a number of people.

"I just took pictures of them, so I was really amazed," Woods said. "I shared it to Facebook and then I got a lot of my friends say make this public and when I made it public it just went viral."

More than that, Nevaeh's designs reached Mattel, who gifted her with a box full of Barbie dolls that she can make clothes for. She thanked the Mattel team on an Instagram post wherein she shared the contents of the box with a note from them that read, "Nevaeh! We heard you love designing clothes, here's a couple new editions to add to your collection. Always remember, you can be anything!"

Nevaeh said that getting Mattel's sign of approval really boosted her confidence. She said, "It made me feel special because I’m achieving my goal to be a fashion designer and that’s what I really want to do. So I can be famous and make stuff and encourage people to follow their dreams."

Now, she is starting her own business called SaSha Sew Amazing and is working closely with the Mattel team to star in a new Barbie advertisement. Some day, she also hopes to create clothing for people and have it featured on runway shows.
