8-year old Nicholas Buamah and his mother realized that younger kids and even some parents were having difficulties pronouncing the expanded words in his bestselling book series, so he decided to create an augmented reality app called Kayla & Kyle to help with this. The app can be used to have his books read aloud, and to make the illustrations in his books come to life.
Nicholas' book to help kids expand on their vocabulary became an overnight success making him a bestselling author at such a young age. When he launched his book series, Kayla & Kyle: The Walking Dictionaries, he instantly received accolades from Whoopi Goldberg who honored him on her show, The View. From there young Nicholas went on to appear on the Steve Harvey Show.
The app is already a hit
The app, available for both Android and IOS devices, has been an instant success. The feedback from kids using the app has been nothing but positive.
Being a kid himself, Nicholas understands that kids learn better when education is made fun for them.
More than just a young business man
At 8-years old, this young man is not only an entrepreneur, but he is also a philanthropist who has started a nonprofit called Books Without Borders Inc.
Nicholas travels around to different schools giving his books to students free of charge. Earlier this month, he teamed up with GivingTuesdayKids.org and adopted two elementary school classrooms, a first-grade class at Flat Rock Elementary School in Lithonia, Georgia and a first-grade class at Annistown Elementary School in Snellville, Georgia. He visited their classes and inspired the students, and even donated 53 copies of his book.
What's next?
One of Nicholas’ goals in the near future is to have his books sold in one of the big box stores like Walmart or Target. His mother feels that if they partner with one of these companies, they would then have the support to create several products around the book's characters.
Nicholas would also like to collaborate with a publishing company because he feels this would help his book series reach a broader audience. Last but not least, the young mogul would like to work with an animation studio and one day turn his characters into an animated cartoon series.
To support Nicholas in adopting more classrooms, visit his website or contact his company directly. All donations to Nicholas’ nonprofit organization are tax-deductible.
His book can be purchased on Amazon, and autographed copies can be purchased directly through Nicholas’ website at www.MotherHubbard.us
