BET and Tyler Perry have partnered to launch a new ad-free subscription video-on-demand service called BET+. The joint venture between Viacom's BET Networks and Tyler Perry Studios is set to launch on September 19.
BET+, which is priced at $9.99 per month, will be featuring more than 1,000 hours of content including original programs, series, movies, and stand-up specials from Tyler Perry, Tracy Oliver, Will Packer, and other Black content creators.

"We are thrilled to offer a streaming experience of content curated for the underserved African American audience with BET+. African Americans have a higher SVOD adoption rate than any other consumer base on the market, which is why BET+ is a natural complement of BET's linear network, which has been and continues to be the leading home of black culture for decades," BET President Scott Mills said in a statement.

The service will also release a BET+ original project "almost every month" in its first year, according to BET+ General Manager Devin Griffin. He added, "We're focused on super-serving lovers of Black stories by working with top talent, and supporting fresh new voices, on both sides of the camera."

Moreover, BET+ will house Perry's film and TV works as well as stage plays, including the Madea series, Meet the Browns, Daddy's Little Girls, and Temptation: Confessions Of A Marriage Counselor.

"In our industry, the way people consume content is constantly evolving. I've paid attention to my audience and what works for them and, for that reason, I'm very excited not only about the idea of partnering with BET to create new and exciting content, but also about the idea of giving people a personalized experience through the ability to curate the content they love to consume," Perry said in a statement. "On a personal level, this will also be the first time I'll be working in areas like unscripted and variety television, which will afford me the opportunity to work in fresh, creative ways with new voices and to discover new talent."

The new online streaming service will be available for Android and iOS mobile devices as well as other streaming platforms.
