Introducing the First Black-Owned Urgent Care Center in Chicago

Founders of the first Black-owned Urgent Care Center in Chicago

A group of Black doctors have opened the newest urgent care center located in Chicago's Hyde Park community. It's called Premier Health Urgent Care and OCC-Health Center is reportedly the only Black-owned urgent care center in the city of Chicago. The center has multiple exam and procedure rooms for patients, and once a patient is admitted, they are typically treated in less than an hour.
Walk-in treatment is available for various conditions including: scrapes, boils, bites, broken or fractured bones, minor burns, colds, coughs, pink eye, contusions, bruises, lacerations, joint dislocations, ear infections, and more.

“We are happy to open an urgent care in Hyde Park because the community needs it. I see so many urban professionals who either delay or go without care because of time constraints. No one has 8 hours to wait in the emergency department for a minor illness or the flexibility to wait 3 weeks because their primary care doctor is booked solid. We are here to help fill that gap,” said one of the co-founders, Dr. Reuben C. Rutland, during an interview with Chicago Crusader.

Their mission is to provide outstanding and efficient healthcare while working expeditiously to exceed the expectations of their patients. Their approach is to deliver individualized patient care with compassion and our personal commitment to follow best practices grounded in evidence-based medicine.
