Madea and Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral, which will be released in March 2019, will be the last film of the Madea franchise, according to Tyler Perry himself. The award-winning filmmaker made the announcement earlier this week during an interview on Sirius XM. “I just don’t want to be her age [still] playing her,” he said.
This film will be the 8th one for the Madea character, and the storyline will center around a joyous family reunion that turns into a hilarious nightmare.

In addition to ending the franchise, Perry will also be ending his long-time relationships with Lionsgate and the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). He has reportedly signed a 5-year lucrative new deal with Viacom where he will produce original content for BET, for the box office, and for short-form video platforms including BET.com.
