From college buddies to business partners, Juwan Mass, Brandon Theriot, Mario McMillan, and Dalen Spratt, who are all dashing Black men, continue to inspire others. Loren Spratt, an Atlanta-based men's custom couture brand they co-founded, is a very popular luxury clothing line across the Black community.
What started as a sideline in 2010, Loren Spratt developed into a fully operating business in 2012, and it continues on growing. The founders say they attribute the growth of their clientele to the power of the combined old-fashioned word of mouth and social media marketing.
The group of four single men all came from Clark Atlanta University, an HBCU (which stands for Historically Black Colleges and Universities) and were brothers from the fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi. It provided them with a large network of clientele which helped them reach even more customers.
"We've been fortunate enough to grow organically through word of mouth; focusing on collegiate relationships. Between all the friends we accumulated over the course of our time at CAU and the relationships we made through pledging Kappa Alpha Psi, you start to realize really early how large your network truly is," Mass told Black Enterprise. "Everyone around us started getting married, and they made us the 'go-to' guys for tuxedos."
The brand which offers tailored, personalized suits and tuxedos specialize in providing concierge-like experience to men to ensure they look good on their special day. Their made-to-measure menswear has been worn by people of color across the country as well as celebrities including Jessie T. Usher, RonReaco Lee, and Hosea Sanchez.
"Staying relevantly consistent is our main priority, by doing so we ensure a quality product that keeps our clientele pleased and ever-growing," Spratt said. "All of our designs stem from members of the team. Our goal has always been to design the clothes that we wanted to wear and we’re forever grateful to everyone that sees and supports our vision."
