It's True -- Rapper Soulja Boy Just Signed a 5-Year $400 Million Deal

Soulja Boy

A $400 million deal is a BIG deal for anyone, including 26-year-old rapper, record producer, actor, and entrepreneur Soulja Boy. Born as DeAndre Cortez Way, Soulja Boy had his first hit in 2007 and made it to the Forbes list of Hip-Hop Cash Kings of 2010 for earning $7 million for that year. He has now sealed a deal for a cool $400 million.

The deal

The deal is a 5-year endorsement with World Poker Fund Holdings, a leading developer of online and event-based social gaming platforms and brands. With a large social media following of about 15 million people, Soulja Boy will use his network to promote World Poker Fund’s online gaming brands. Other rappers have had similar deals, but Soulja Boy is the youngest to land such a deal.

It makes sense

This latest announcement shows how much marketing is changing in this age of technology and social media. Using big influencers like Soulja Boy is an effective way to increase brand awareness and loyalty. For Soulja Boy, it makes sense, as he explains, “I invest in things I understand. I enjoy music, and of course gaming. Being an influencer is a form of currency.”

The agreement is reportedly the largest that any rapper has solidified. But watch out for more news; rumor has it that Soulja Boy has his sights on yet another company.
