Restaurants owned by celebrities are nothing new. Celebrities have been opening their own restaurants for years. Celebrities like Robert DeNiro, Danny Devito, Robert Redford and many others own restaurants in cities across the nation. Many black celebrities have also jumped into the food and beverage business and opened their own restaurants.
Here are six popular restaurants owned by Black celebrities:
#1 - Benzino’s Crab Trap - located in Marietta, Georgia, this seafood restaurant is owned by former Love & Hip Hop star, Benzino. The menu consists of corn and all his favorite crab dishes.
#2 - Gladys Knight & Ron Winans Chicken & Waffles - opened in 1997 in Atlanta, Georgia, serving comfort food like chicken and waffles, catfish, spicy garlic shrimp and fried green tomatoes.
#3 - Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar - was established in 1996 by Nicholas Ashford of the songwriting and performing sensation, Ashford & Simpson, and his wife Valerie Simpson. The restaurant is located in Manhattan, New York, features good food, decadent desserts, and local and music entertainment from R&B/Soul, Jazz, and Caribbean, to traditional African rhythms.
#4 - Jay Z’s 40/40 Club - opened in 2003 in New York by hip hop mogul Jay Z. Although it is sports-oriented, it reflects all the luxury of a fine New York restaurant. The menu includes favorites like Buffalo wings, sandwiches and salads, and mouth-watering house-made Bannoffe pie and warm Pineapple Upside down cake.
#5 - Michael Jordan’s Steak House - located in Chicago, the restaurant features steak, crab cakes, grilled salmon, garlic bread and layered chocolate cake. It is considered one of the best steakhouses around and has locations in New York and Connecticut, too.
#6 - B.B. King Blues Club & Grill - located in NYC in the heart of Times Square, this restaurant and blues club is a premier live music venue. Opened in the year 2000, B.B. King performed there many times and hosted many other famous musicians.
