Black Woman Entrepreneur Celebrates 10 Years of Success By Giving Back to Women in Need

Pamela Booker, founder and CEO of Koils By Nature

Always ahead of the curve in celebrating all things natural hair, Pamela Booker, founder and CEO of Koils By Nature, will mark her company's 10-year anniversary with a virtual party on May 16, 2-8 pm. Tickets for this global, must-attend event are now available online, with 80 percent of the proceeds supporting My Sister’s House, a nonprofit that provides a safe place and support for women and children.
This is only one part of the giveback – Koils By Nature will also donate face masks and hand sanitizer to give some of the city’s most vulnerable extra protection during the COVID-19 crisis.

“We wanted to commemorate our decade in business in a unique way that allowed us to also celebrate every one of our supporters and give back to the community. I can’t wait to share this special moment with the thousands of customers and natural hair lovers who helped us make it to ten years,” said Pamela. “We’ve always used technology and the digital space to connect and create a sense of community. It only made sense to party online too.”

This won’t be an ordinary, boring online event. Much like an in-person bash, the Koils By Nature anniversary party will include swag bags full of products and plenty of mixing and mingling. The lineup of VIP attendees will include leading influencers and experts in beauty and natural hair such as Dr. Nina Ellis-Hervey, Patrice Grell Yursik, Felicia Leatherwood, and Aevin Dugas.

“You’ll be able to hang out with us from the comfort of your home, but still get that same level of fun, excitement and entertainment you would want at a party,” added Pamela. “We’ve built friendships and so many memories over the years, so it’s also a chance for all of us that have been in the natural hair world to reconnect and reflect.”

The virtual anniversary party is just one way Koils By Nature continues to come up with innovative ways to bring people together and meet the needs of its customers at the same time. It’s that commitment to going above and beyond that’s positioned the company for long-term success and growth.

According to the latest data from the U.S. Small Business Administration, only 35 percent of businesses reach a decade – a testament to the staying power of Koils By Nature in a particularly competitive beauty space.

When Pamela first began mixing up natural, premium ingredients in her kitchen, she never imagined the exponential growth she’s experienced. Now she’s proud to be able to offer employment and opportunity in a 9,000 square ft. warehouse based in Lithonia, Ga. This and her focus on ecommerce has allowed her to offer access to high-quality products to people all over the world.

Despite extraordinary success – from shipping countless products to over 30,000 customers and going from developing six to 50 products for both women and men to having her top hair care systems on the shelves of hundreds of local and national retail brands, Pamela has thought about giving up numerous times. It’s the customers and community that keep her going – which is why their presence at her event is crucial.

“Building a business that employs so many people and contributes to the community is not an easy road. I’m so grateful because I know that not many businesses reach this rare milestone. I wanted to do something special for everyone that helped us get to this point,” said Pamela.
