More than a century later, A'Lelia Bundles, the great-great-granddaughter of Madam C.J. Walker, has launched a new line of Black hair care products to honor her grandmother's legacy. The brand, called Madam by Madam C.J. Walker, is already available in over 3,000 Walmart stores and online.

In the 1900s, Madam C.J. Walker built a haircare empire that made her the first-ever Black millionaire in American history. She created her breakthrough product called Wonderful Hair Grower, which was made explicitly for  Black women with natural hair. Since then, it has become a benchmark for textured hair care. It was also the inspiration for the creation of Madam by Madam C.J. Walker which is made for the new generation.

Bundles, who also authored Walker's biography entitled On Her Own Ground, now serves as the brand historian for Madam by Madam C.J. Walker. She is the one responsible for ensuring that every aspect of the brand reflects the quality and values that the original Madam C.J. Walker products embody.

"I think she'd be pleased that some of the ideas she thought worked more than 100 years ago can still be applied today and have been taken to a new level," Bundles told Byrdie. "[She believed in] having a great product, using high-quality ingredients, marketing your product, and having a strong team. That's the DNA of this line."

Madam by Madam C.J. Walker, which is distributed by Sundial Brands, focuses on the "Scalp to Strand System" that aims to strengthen textured hair from the root and bring confidence in hair styling. It currently offers 11 products including scalp serums, shampoos, conditioners, and curl creams.
